The DJI Matrice 4 series represents DJI's most capable commercial platform to date. We've been flying it on real estate, construction, and inspection jobs for three months. Here's our honest assessment.
Build Quality and Portability
The Matrice 4 is significantly more portable than the M300 series while maintaining professional-grade durability. The folding design means it fits in a standard Pelican 1510 carry-on case — a genuine improvement for pilots who travel to job sites.
Camera Performance
The integrated 4/3 CMOS sensor produces excellent results in challenging lighting conditions. Dynamic range is noticeably better than the Mavic 3 Enterprise, which matters for construction sites with mixed sun and shadow. The 48MP still mode is genuinely useful for inspection work.
Flight Time
DJI claims 41 minutes; we're consistently seeing 32–35 minutes in real-world conditions with the camera active. That's still excellent and allows most commercial jobs to be completed on a single battery.
The ROI Question
At roughly $6,500 for the base configuration, the Matrice 4 is a significant investment. For pilots doing regular construction, inspection, or high-end real estate work, it pays for itself quickly. For occasional real estate photography, the Mavic 3 Enterprise is a more sensible choice.
Verdict
The Matrice 4 is the best all-around commercial drone DJI has ever made. If you're doing serious commercial work and need a platform that clients will take seriously, it's worth the investment.
